Port Stephens Inner Lighthouse Trust was established in 1986 to restore the Inner Lighthouse and Cottage of Nelson Bay.
This lighthouse was erected on Nelson Head in 1872. It was originally powered by four kerosene lamps and was last upgraded in 1995 when fitted with solar powered occulting white and red sector lights.
Since then, the Inner Lighthouse has become a major tourist attraction for Port Stephens and is now heritage listed. The views from the lighthouse are panoramic and stunning.
