Comprised of 3 craters, The Mount Gambier Crater Lakes area features several lakes including Brownes Lake, Valley Lake, Leg of Mutton Lake and, of course, the world famous Blue Lake.

Blue Lake is known for its vibrant colours changes throughout the year, starting with a sombre blue in the winter months and transforming to an intense turquoise from Nov to Mar.

Valley Lake Crater features a wildlife park, boardwalk, barbeques, picnic grounds and adventure playground - guaranteeing a fun day out for all ages.

The Leg of Mutton Lake is situated in its own small crater, and is surrounded by many varieties of deciduous trees - popular for its excellent walking trails.

Nearby is the Adam Lindsay Gordon Monument, which was erected in 1887 to commemorate when he leapt over a fence on horseback, landing on a narrow ledge above a 70 metre sheer drop to the Blue Lake.

Seeking that perfect photo? Around the circumference of the Blue Lake are several lookouts such as Apex Lookout, also known as Waworong Lookout - which is the Booandik Aboriginal people's word for Blue Lake. Each lookout provides the ideal position for you to get that perfect photograph.
