Erected in 1897, Cummins Theatre was originally part of the Tivoli Theatre. The Theatre was dismantled and railed to Merredin where it was re-built in 1928. Since its construction, the theatre has become highly valued by the community as a long-standing venue for live entertainment. In 1982, in recognition of its cultural heritage significance, the place was classified by the National Trust of Australia, entering the State Register of Heritage Places in 1996. Cummins Theatre is now the oldest natural fibre roped wooden fly tower theatre in the state.

Today Cummins Theatre hosts a number of performing arts events, from music to dance and live theatre. The theatre is also available for private and non-commercial hire, and is a popular venue for weddings, balls, meetings, seminars and a host of other functions.
