First up let me say that the room was clean and so was all the hotel and the staff were friendly but that's all the good things over.
Got there Friday and were told that we were ok for dinner that night but would need to book Saturday- no mention of Sunday and posters everywhere advertising Sunday lunch and sign outside saying quiz night on a Sunday so never paid it any thought.
Went to room which was tiny but clean and missing things like a hairdryer etc but worse was that it soon became very apparent that the bedrooms has NO soundproofing so could hear every noise made in corridor and even in the bar- which was to prove a nightmare when saturday night an Elvis impersonator did an act where I could hear every word he sang whilst listening to children run up and down the stairs over my head and even just people talking in the next room- the noise was ridiculous- but worse was to come.
Sunday was out for the day and before we left no indication from anyone that the hotel was closed Sunday afternoon and evening.
This only became apparent when I was dropped back there and tried to get in- I had not been given a front door key and no-one had told me it would be shut. I tried the doorbell but no answer. It was only another guest who ended up letting me in when they got back. Went to my room and it had not been made up so bed unmade and no tea/ coffee etc.
Bar and restaurant shut and nearest food place was a chinese take-away over a mile walk away- if we'd have known the'd have been shut we'd have got food before being dropped off.
When we got back we discovered another guest also locked out- and we let them in and as they were missing their room key searched the hotel for any staff- after ringing phone number and door ball again- eventually found someone asleep upstairs who with no questions asked handed them a room key- nice security.
The next day when checking out I tried to raise this and the member of staff couldn't have cared less apart from repeatedly telling me they were closed on sundays- but of course this info was too late.
