Relaxing and beautiful setting

We stayed here Easter 09 in The Cottage. We enjoyed the garden which is alongside a paddock where the local horses and cows would be grazing. The cottage was beautifully presented and the open fire worked very well. The showers were hot and the host provides shampoos, shower wash and towels. There is plenty to do in Ballarat or Daylesford and they are nearby - 20mins drive. The Wombat State Forest is at the end of the track and we walked through there several times. I would recommend this for families with children and dogs as Country Gate looks after both very well.

(Victorian Melways Map 77 B1) Directions from Melbourne From the M8, take the Wallace Exit and go back over overpass, Ormond Rd. From Ormond Rd Take the fifth right turn into Simpsons Road. Stewart's Hut .Continue up Ormond Road exactly 1km from Simpsons Road and Stewart's Hut is on your right under 5 pine trees. Directions from Daylesford Take the Daylesford Ballan rd, take Barkstead turn at Leonards Hill follow this road thru to Barkstead. (Do not take the Yoga Ashram turn). Follow the bitumen through Barkstead , and then the yellow gravel rd out of forest. Then take first turn to left SIMPSONS RD.
