This is not a bad place to stay, but some of the info on the website is misleading, and it's a bit hit and miss, depending on what room you get given. I stayed there with my partner for 2 days earlier this week. I booked a double/twin room on the internet. I didn't realise you had to specify if you wanted a double bed in the comments section, and as a result, received an email from Nathan, who manages the place, saying that they only had a twin, but it was the "nicest room in the house, with a TV and fridge", would this be alright? Of course I said yes, but when we arrived, we discovered that the 'nicest room in the house', was indeed a nice large room, but it was a bunk room - stuffed with three bunk beds, such that there was little natural light. It was also just off the common room, which made for a noisy night (one of the guys staying there played loud computer games until late into the night) On the website it says that all the rooms have desks, which I was keen about because my partner and I both wanted to get some work while we were there, but our room didn't have one. I'm not exactly how this room qualified as a 'deluxe' room - when you read the website it looks like you get a bunk bed if you stay in a budget/standard room, but not a deluxe room, but I guess the $14 extra we paid was just for having a TV which we didn't use, and a fridge, which we did use, but could easily have done without as there are large fridges in the kitchen. I was also appealed to the place by the promise of 'fast internet', but when we were there it was very slow - took me 3 hours to download a pdf for the essay I was working on. It got quicker between the hours of 12pm and 9am; making me think someone had used up the download capacity. That said, the location is very handy - there's lots to do just down the hill in Southbank, and there's restaurants and convenience store right nearby. The house has been beautifully restored and is very well maintained. The guy who manages it, Nathan, was very nice in person, and apologetic about the noise and the bunk room (although I do think he misadvertised it in the email). The kitchen is a good size and pretty well equipped. The common area is comfy, with a big TV, and the verandah out the front is lovely. I almost cried when I saw some of the other rooms, because they were a lot nicer, with double or single beds that you could actually sit down on without bumping your head, and desks, and in quieter parts of the house, so I think if we'd gotten almost any other room, we would have felt we'd done very well for $90/night. However, as it was, I felt it was a bit of a rip off and we could have done better. Therefore - my advice for you if you are thinking of booking there is, by all means do, but make sure you specify you want a double bed if you are going for a 'deluxe' room; otherwise, just book a standard room, for the cheaper price, and you'll probably end up in the same room we we
