I highly recommend this B&B - good value for money and a nice ambience. The breakfasts were really nice and produce is locally sourced. Vegetarians, vegans and those with special dietary requirements are amply catered for and there was certainly no shortage of choice (I recommend the organic pancakes!)! The owner, Di, chats amicably to you as she prepares the food and you sit at the large breakfast table. It feels a lot more like being in someone's house than a b&b, but in a good way - you are still very much treated as a paying guest and of course allowed total privacy. The bathroom is seperate and shared but we never found ourselves waiting to use it. We had the double room which was warm and very homely, provided with filtered water, books to browse and a whole folder full of maps, guides and info on what to do during your stay in York. It would be of particular delight to cat lovers - I admired Di's various feline figurines, pictures and curios, and it was a treat to watch the antics of resident puss, Hoover! Parking is just across the road and the centre of the city is only around ten minutes' walk away. A perfect stay for anyone really but especially those with an interest in organic living. Fondly remembered!
