Oaks Gateway on Palmer

Ok, we could live without the daily housekeeper and made our own bed, we coped with the overflowing rubbish bin in the room that no-one emptied but truly, for four warm days and three tropical nights is the rationing of towels to one per guest (never cleaned) necessary? After three days we asked for fresh towels. Nope, not going to happen as we had apparently booked an "un-serviced room" - nothing on either their own booking site or indeed any other booking site we could find to indicate that our rate was "un-serviced". Perhaps accounts for the control of little individual milk containers. Don't ask for more than four, you won't get them and even then you can see the dollar sign light in the eyes of the desk staff beginning to flicker. Obviously doing well though because they can afford to have between two and four very idle and very unfriendly reception staff sitting around and doing nothing (except controlling access to the milk). The place is devoid of personality, services and obviously, housekeeping. If you're into austere white surrounds where you can lie in bed and listen to the dulcet tones of the guest in the obviously "serviced" room next door trying to work out the intricacies of the beeping microwave at 2am (don't worry, there won't be one in your "hotel" room) this is the place for you. At least it will distract you from the thumping music and all night revelry on Palmer Street, which the walls just don't seem to be thick enough to hold out. Given the array of very welcoming hotels in the area for a comparable or better price, I know where I won't be spending my money next time.
