I purchased a voucher for my wife as a wedding present and the flight experience certainly promised to be something special for her - if we manage to complete it. We live in the country (Kalgoorlie) which is 6.5 hour drive away - as such we have to look at doing this on a Saturday - which of course is one of their busier days. Consequently it has been very difficult to book a time to do the flight experience and we are now in danger of losing our voucher which is valid for 12 months only.
We did have a booking for a Saturday in mid-November - this coincided with a work dinner that my wife was coming down to Perth for so everything seemed good. Four days before the dinner my wife's organisation was closed down and she was retrenched. Because my wife did not provide 48 hours notice of the cancellation (she had other things on her mind as we also lost out on purchasing a house that week due to the retrenchment) Flight Experience charged her $90 for the cancellation.
I can undertsand that people cancelling out can be a loss for the organisation - but I think some compassion in this situation should have been shown. It seems especially mean to charge a fee like this to someone who has just lost their job as well - and is trying to preserve a valued wedding present. I had plans to enrol my wife in the Flight Experience Club, following her first flight - we will now not be doing that. I am hoping that the flight eperience will be especially good once we get to do it. (Date of experience: Nov, 2011 )
