We all just l o v e the Gold Coast, but you tend to always hang out in the usual spots, theme parks, shopping centres and the sand. But if like us you make a pact to do different stuff this trip (especially as the kids are getting older), well you're in for the shock of your lives. Hiding behind "the strip" is an untouched paradise, a place where it's as if the human hand has never stretched - and we saw all this on a tour which had it all - kayaking, wonderful wildlife and Aboriginal culture. Dolphins, birdlife, tropical fish, wallabies - you name it we saw it - as it is in its own environment. The Balunjali guides made this trip for us - enthusiastic friendly people with a love of the environment and a willingness to share their culture - stuff we never knew before. The kids loved being involved in the animal tracking and we were rewarded with some fantastic photos of them. Beats a day in front of the playstation!!
