Dear Richie-San, thanks for your comments.
I am committed to make Amy's Inlet View Retreat a value for money, comfortable and well equipped venue for guests seeking a holiday or retreat from work/ stress. I therefore value all guests' feedback for the opportunity to improve my business.
The first point you make is that the house did not fit your picture of what a retreat should look like. I named the property Amys Inlet View Retreat because it has inlet views from the bathroom, kitchen, dining, lounge, two upstairs bedrooms, rear garden and back verandah deck. I named it a retreat because I find staying there rejuvenating and invigorating and hope guests will too.
I am not sure how old the house is but estimate it would be about 15 years. It is made of Jarrah; a beautiful and rare species of hardwood native to Western Australia. The garden and interior of the house were completely renovated in 2008. The renovations included installation of a new bathroom, slate tile floors, shower and vanity; a new laundry, and new kitchen.
The lounge boasts a brand new slow combustion fire place that warms the entire home, a 35 year old Italian leather lounge suite and TV with unlimited foxtel and broadband wireless internet access. While I would not describe the house as luxurious, I do think it is comfortable, well appointed, has gorgeous views and is excellently located.
I am bemused the appearance of the house surprised and disappointed you because it is clearly displayed in photographs on the website and it is never described anywhere as being isolated or something other than what it is. I acknowledge the internet was not working for 1 or 2 hours during your stay. I cannot guarantee the reliability of the service however; as this is in the hands of the internet service provider (ISP).
As it appeared to me that you were very unhappy the internet connection had been interrupted, I offered you the option of talking to the ISP support staff yourself, as this was apparently the only way to resolve the issue. I arranged for a bottle of good local wine to be delivered to you free of charge to compensate any inconvenience caused. I note your comments that the TV in the house was an old tube set. When I renovated the house it was fitted with an LCD TV and hi-fi system but these had been damaged. I am replacing this month, the old tube set TV with a new LCD screen. I am also installing a new home theatre sound system with ipod dock.
Your final concern is that I would not refund your money after the first night of your 3 night booking. My cancellation policy is that after payment is received, a reservation may be cancelled within a month of the booking, and only incur an administrative charge. I do not concur with your claim the house is 'fictionally described' on the web-site and therefore that this entitled you to a refund of 2 days on your 3 day booking.
Thanks for the opportunity to reply to these comments, Jean-Pierre.
