The Lords Lodge was the first hostel I'd ever stayed at and I've stayed there twice now.
Pro's:
Cool people
Friendly staff
Good location close to public transport.
Walking distance to Chapel st (lots of shops, restaurants and cafe's)
Just off Commercial rd (which is where alot of gay nightclubs are for those who might be interested) also I recommend a cafe on commercial rd called Cafe Dior (really good coffee)
Upstairs there are two big bathrooms (and a few smaller ones) so you won't have to shower in a tiny cubicle
Cons:
Small Kitchen
The place is a little dirty and there are things falling apart.
The people are nice but they're a bit cliquey.
If your in one of the downstairs rooms you have to put up with the front door banging everytime someone walks through it
I was in the room directly accross from the lounge room in a small little alcove at the front of the building, not much room but a bit more privacy as there is only one bunk. the problem there being that everyone hangs out in the front yard after 11pm so its not easy to sleep when there is alot of people out the front.
Its a good stay though and a lot of fun. Just try to request an upstairs room (Date of experience: Nov, 2009 )
