We are always serious about the quality and service of the hotels/resorts where we will stay during our holidays. We did a lot of research before we decided the accommodation for our first visit to Hunter Valley. After staying 4 nights at Spicers Vineyards Estate, we believed we have made the right choice. The retreat deserves all its positive reviews and comments. Its location is convenient for anyone to tour around Hunter Valley. We booked two separate packages which included a free dinner for two at its very well-known restaurant 'Botanica'. The retreat is peaceful and tranquil. It is clean and tidy. The furnishing is stylish. We enjoyed every minute of our stay there. We were assigned a room on the first floor. Even though we brought two big pieces of luggage, it was worth our while as the view from our room was immaculate. It overlooks the front of the estate. There were a lot of greenery and a small vineyard. Our room has a comfortable king sized bed, a fireplace, an over-sized spa in a big bathroom with "L'occitane" toiletries, robes, slippers, hairdryer, a spacious sitting room with flatscreen TV, DVD and a free mini-bar. (We've never been treated to a free mini-bar in any 5-star retreats/resorts in Margaret River or Tasmania that we have visited.) There was also a car parking space for every guest. The only drawback is that the shower is not powerful enough. Also, a bunch of fresh flowers in the room will certainly add colours to the room and makes it more lively.
I came across some rabbits, birds and wallabies in the front and back yards when I practised taiji before I had my breakfast at the Restaurant Botanica. The breakfast was very delicious. Each morning, we were served with a glass of mixed juice, a big bowl of mixed fruits including strawberries, watermelon, grapes, pear, mandarin, apple, a basket of pastries and some warm egg and spinach tartlets. We also enjoyed the self-service choices of cereal with additional toppings like nuts, apricots, dried dates/plums, raisins etc. All the staff were friendly and their service was most professional. We will, for sure, stay in the retreat again when we visit Hunter Valley in the future. (Date of experience: May, 2010 )
