I felt I needed to just share the impact on myself and my family to learn of the sudden death of Steve Irwin. How we learned so much about wild life, the interaction of life and nature through the dedication of Steve and his family and friends.
I myself have not had the pleasure of going to his wildlife park at the sunshine
coast, however my grandchildren have been and their experience had been so exhilarating and full of life and information, that to witness their excitement of what they saw and learned whilst at the park was a beautiful sight. To know the impact of knowledge and appreciation for what Steve represented to my grandchildren and other children was a humbling experience.
My eight year old grandson said to me when he was five years old, "Nana, I am going to change my name to Steve Irwin.". I asked him why, and his response
was. Because I can work with animals and be just like Steve when I grow up."
Steve Irwin's impact on my grandchildren's life then and now is one I am honoured to witness because to me he stands for so much. Pure, innocent, vibrant, educational, family orientated, exciting, fearless, inquisitive, loving, dedicated...and the list goes on.
My deepest love and sympathy to Terri, Bindi and Bobby Irwin for the loss of
a wonderful husband and father which Steve publicly demonstrated his admiration, love and affection for. I am privileged to have been alive and witnessed such a wonderful man in my life time.
Thank you to the Irwin family.
sincerely mourning with you
