Sawtell is a pleasant little town, far enough from Coffs Harbour to have its own identity, but close enough the city's amenities and attractions. Sawtell Beach Caravan Park offers an open grassy camping area and many comfortable cabins.
We stayed there for 4 days in a cabin - unfortunately there were none available with a bathroom when we booked, but at least ours was close to the large, clean toilets and showers. Our friends stayed in a camper van under the trees with plenty of space for the kids to run around.
There is a small path leading to the lagoon which backs onto the south beach - good for kids (but mind the sharp oysters on the rocks!), fishing and surfing when a nor-easter blows. It's a large site, so may get crowded when full, and there's no pool as part of the complex, although you can use the one nearby and get a rebate on entry.
I'd stay here again, but next time I'd take a couple of bicycles to get around the site and into town. (Date of experience: Mar, 2010 )
