Snowy Mountains Motel

Unfortunately the change of name (formerly Adaminaby Country Inn Motel) and refurbishment does not match with the attitude of the staff or the restaurant.

The room we had was refurbushed, clean, fresh and basic (as it should be for Budget accomodation), no problem. Our booking was mixed up and housekeeping staff did fix those problems promptly. Too bad to be let down by no room servicing though for three days; rubbish was not collected, beds not made and room was unvacuumed.

The restaurant however was the main culprit , presenting an extensive menu that they could not manage. Our food was inadequate and one overpriced dish, a tiny pasta with two trout niblets had to be sent back. In addition we had to wait a full hour and a half or more for most of our food. Clearly not a good night for the kitchen or its "Award winning chef" ... ahem... . Give the restaurant a miss until they sort their issues out IMO. The next two nights we dined elsewhere with some other disappointed patrons, a loss to the Motel of around $300. Don't go to the in-house restaurant at present!

The value for money is undeniable, I just hope the manager and staff at Snowy Mountains Motel get their act together. We didn't have a kitchen in our room (High Country), so to avoid all the above and go for the self-catering Stockmans' suite. Or you can stay in a no kitchen room and do not use the restaurant at all.

The lounge and games area is good: pool table, ping pong but with some awful pay pay pay games that made our (parent) time by the fire a succession of begging children wanting money, not relaxing at all for Mum and Dad, sorry.

Overall, a mixed bag, rooms are good value but mostly everything else sucks. Please fix up Snowy Mountains Motel staff!! (Date of experience: Jul, 2010 )
