Lovely historic home but unable to check in until 4pm, breakfast was plonked in front of us at 8am (no choices) and when we got back to our rooms at 8 30 the maid was already stripping our beds. For the $220 overnight price I would expect a little more hospitality. Not really a place to relax and spend the weekend due to the home being a museum during the day.

We thank rosemary1 for the feedback and would like to comment on the content. Martindale Hall is an historic museum open to the public 7 days a week. It is a wonderful privilege to be able to use the artefacts after hours. Checkin is not until 4.30pm (museum shuts at 4pm). Breakfast is cooked country-style in the Old Kitchen and has a choice of 4 cereals, 2 juices, fruit, eggs, bacon, tomato and toast, tea and coffee. (I must argue that we never 'plonk'). Unfortunately, due to the museum hours we must start housekeeping early to be ready for the public by 11am. Martindale Hall is for those who wish to experience amazing heritage and probably does not suit those looking to spend their days relaxing in their room.
