My family and I were absolutely blown away by this place. The kids even voted it the best place we'd stayed in for our whole trip!
The grounds are sensational - a converted Federation hospital with the most amazing architecture and gorgeous grounds. The owners have done a fantastic job with the renovations. Perched on a hill overlooking the town and the purple plains behind it, I couldn't think of a better place to stay in Wellington. Plus, it's a great centre for day trips to the surrounding attractions at Dubbo and Peak Hill, Parkes and Mudgee.
If we'd known how good it was before we arrived, we wouldn't have bothered staying anywhere else! My husband managed to lock the keys in our new car and not even the NRMA could get in. We had to get the spare set of keys couriered in from Sydney. The owners, Debbie and Ray, could not have been more helpful. They were on the phone to the NRMA straight away, even contacted the VW dealer in Dubbo to see if they could help. They rang around the different courier companies, even offered us the use of one of their cars when we discovered all the hire car companies were fully booked (it was school holiday time). In the end, their brother, Andrew, gave us a lift into town to get supplies, and even offered to drive us to Dubbo (50kms away!). Now, that's service.
The continental breakfast was simple, fresh and delicious. And to top it all off, they wouldn't accept a tip from me at check-out! I cannot speak highly enough of this place. It's got history, it's got a great atmosphere, the rooms are top-notch and the people offer the best in country hospitality.
We'll be back!
