We decided to make a booking at the Facet's Restaurant at the resort on the easter long weekend.
Not being guests of the resort we were asked to pre order our meals in advance to ensure everything was adequatly prepared. Feeling it was a little weird, we brushed it off, looking forward to a great night with friends.
Some of our party were a little late to dinner given they were driving from Launceston, and arrived 1/2 hour after the booking was made. The dinner was obviously being pre-cooked and our dining experience raced against the clock as entrees were served to us before our full party of diners arrived. This we thought was unusual and a little rude and unnecessary to the experience.
In addition, the diners in our party who had ordered eye fillet steak were served a medium steak, never being asked for a preference on how they would like it cooked. This decision was determined by either management or the chef to "make life easier". for the restaurant, or so it seemed. Once again this seemed unnecessary to the experience and at $34 per steak, not the quality of service one would expect.
The manager on duty on occasion seemed condesending, making in appropriate comments relating timeliness, patience, and potential noise. This in effect effected the overall experience, taking away from the relaxing atmosphere of the evening.
Although there were some positives to our experience (e.g., free penguin tour, pencils and paper for toddler, and free port at the end of dinner) I would not choose to dine here again based on our treatment.
We booked Facet's based on a previous experience 3 years ago when that was a pleasent experience with quality food and service. This more recent experience was more like a cheap tacky chain-like family restaraunt experience served with white table cloth prices.
On the upside, the quail was nice and the seafood platter impressive. (Date of experience: Apr, 2011 )
