As owners of Cloudlake, we were very upset at the outcome when Mike71 came to stay at Cloudlake in Easter, 2007. We realized that he was not at all well and when he came to tell us that they were going to leave because the house did not have air conditioning and that they didn't like the animals (pet ducks and chickens which come right up to the house and our lovely Staffy, Dudley) we were most concerned but could not dissuade them. As we could not then book the house for Easter despite having numerous guests, including previous guests, who wanted to come for Easter, we felt it necessary to make some charge but took $200 off the booking fee.
Perhaps Mike71 didn't recognize that the furniture in Mother of Ducks is antique, for example the kitchen dresser in a beautiful 100 year old English
piece we treasure along with all the other furniture. The comment about not ever having been cleaned we find very offensive as it is absolutely untrue and indeed we always fill the house with flowers from the garden, fruit and in this case, being Easter a bowl of freshly laid eggs.
Mike71 is the only guest who has indicated that they did not love Cloudlake in the 8 years we have been open and in the accommodation business, we try our utmost to provide for our guests hospitality in the true meaning of the word.
