Wollongong Backpackers - Keiraleagh House

Rooms We had two dorms with around 5 people in each, and another couple in a private double. The rooms were good basic accommodation. There were a few small issues - the light didn't work in one of the dorms, and the sheet on one of the beds was stained. Our room was hot and stuffy and there was no fan, but we spent most of our time outside so it wasn't a big issue. Overall everything was ok and fairly clean. Atmosphere The courtyard was relaxed and social, and everyone was really friendly and helpful. It felt like a house full of friends rather than a hostel. It got a bit rowdy at night; the couple in the private room were woken a few times by drunk randoms banging on their door. But overall everyone was friendly and relaxed. Nothing went missing from our rooms even though we left stuff including ipods and things out, so people were quite trustworthy. Having said that we also left two bags in the courtyard and they disappeared, so it's worth being a bit more careful in the common areas. Location Very good location. Walking distance to the beach, transport, supermarket, cafes and nightlife. A good laid back hostel. A bit run down but for the price it's friendly, good value and a great location.
