We were extremely happy with our stay - a spacious two-bedroom apartment on North Terrace, with washing machine and dryer, air-conditioning, two double bedrooms and a couple of TVs.
The pool was closed for day after their maintenance staff overdosed it with chemicals. But the staff were great and arranged for us to go to another Oaks property next door and use their pool instead. Yes, you guessed it - same pool maintenance contractor, same result - their pool was closed too.
The place badly (!) needs a restaurant. They have a cafe downstairs, open for a fairly limited breakfast but not in the evenings. But the neighbourhood's good for food, with Hindley Street just a block away, and we visited the hotels on the other side of North Terrace and at the Casino.
Given we'd found a few poor reviews for Oaks' properties in Adelaide, we're glad we persisted. We paid just under $200 a night for a wonderful two-bedroom apartment with views to the Adelaide Cricket Ground and the river (and I like trains so the train yards were a bonus!)
Great for families as the free tram (between the terraces) and the free city circle bus passes the front door (indeed, the bus stop's right outside). (Date of experience: Jan, 2010 )
