We first stayed here in November 2007 as a 40th birthday present to each other for our first ever trip to Lord Howe Island. We had no idea what to expect. Just like the island we were most impressed with how homely and comfortable Beachcomber was. We decided to come back to Lord Howe again a couple of years later and stayed again at Beachcomber. A wise choice as we were again greeted with the same warmth and hospitality. Nestled in gardens of hibiscus, Kentia Palms and other endemic shrubs and trees of the island Beachcomber offers small rooms for those on a budget through to lovely units with separate living rooms and bedrooms with an extra bed for a third member of the traveling party if needed. Biscuits in the jar are a nice touch and the rooms are serviced daily. Knowing the establishment is still owned by descendants of some of the original settlers on Lord Howe is also quite special. This year, 2012, we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Beachcomber. Again they impressed with their customary hospitality and friendliness. Location is also handy for access to attractions and activities on the east side and upper middle of the island such as Ned's Beach, Clear Place, Valley of Shadows and Transit Hill. All in all a great place to stay. Yes, we will stay there again. (Date of experience: Jan, 2012 )
