Wow, having travelled all over the world I did not think that I would that I would find a hotel this bad in Australia. OK some positives first, it is located right in the centre of Byron Bay and it is very close if you want to get a beer at the pub downstairs. Now a few of the reasons why this hotel is entirely unstayable.
The rooms are located above the pub so all the noise from the pub goes straight into the rooms. The band generally plays until 3am so forget about any sleep before this time. Actually forget about sleep altogether as the rooms have no air-conditioning, no fans and no ability to leave the doors open. This means during summer you will be sleeping in 40 degree heat. (yes it is about 10 - 15 degrees hotter than it is outside).
The other unique thing is the smell. You get to enjoy this smell both in your room and in the public toilets that you will need to use if you want to use any facilites.
Finally there is the service which is a mixture of dis-interest and a faint curiosity about why you would actually stay in their hotel.
If I was offered a room for free in this hotel I would not stay there. (Date of experience: Dec, 2009 )
