I was travelling from the USA to Australia for a two week vacation and my wife agreed to let me go off on my own for a couple days on a motorcycle. I was excited to book a rental for a couple days and very pleased that I found someplace to rent a Harley. Having made the reservation online and having received confirmation that I had a Harley FatBob reserved, I showed up to pick up my bike. That's when we had problems. Dave, the owner, explained that he had SOLD the bike I reserved and the only other bike he offerred me was a Suzuki V-Strom sport bike. I had a friend waiting outside ready to ride, so I took the bike. Instead of being the highlight of the trip it tturned out to be the most disappointing experience I can imagine. I specifically booked the bike I did the way I did because I was led to believe they had a large supply of cruisers. I would have accepted a number of different bikes in place of the FatBob, but not a sport bike. Instead of riding non stop for 2 days, my friend had to constantly stop so I could rest my sore knee from the uncomfortable riding position. We did a total of just under 500 km in two days instead of the close to 800 I would have done otherwise. At the end of the second day I just wanted it to be over. Dave's explanation of "We sold the one you reserved, it happens" was just plain wrong and piss poor customer service. Next time I go to Australia I will rent someplace else or go without.
