Northern Star Hotel

I found the Northern Star to be very disappointing. Having booked 2 rooms over the telephone, I was appalled by the hostile atmosphere of the bar on check-in. One of our group members is gay and at least half of the bar thought it funny to jeer and make fun of his attire. Even the bar staff seemed cautious if not suspicious of us. Needless to say I cancelled our reservation and found accommodation elsewhere. For travellers looking for good value for money near Newcastle CBD might I recommend Carrington Place. We stayed there instead and the experience was absolutely wonderful. (Date of experience: Oct, 2011 )
