Annie's Place

Some places go downhill, but Annies Place has fallen off a cliff. I stayed here 2 years ago and it was fine. Not now. Read on. Bed bugs make for a major annoyance but it did not begin there and neither does my review. They knew we were arriving late, but the staff forgot to leave us our room key out for our 9pm arrival and reception closed at 8pm. Lucky it was not an emergency because the All hours number rang unanswered in office. No one knew who to call or who could help us. Just as we were about to go to another hotel someone appeared. We wished later we had gone elsewhere. The 'manager' was just a backpacker, so you can get the idea. No one cares here, and it shows. The room was dirty and there was insecticide powder sprinkled everywhere. It was called a twin ensuite and charged for such, but is nothing like the room promised on the website. Apart from the two cell-like beds that were too low to sit on, the only furniture in the room was an old chair, and that was needed to keep the broken bathroom door closed. No bedside tables, chairs, cupboards - nothing! The main wall is completely covered with photos of topless men and women, which could be considered at worst offensive and at best in very poor taste. The next day I was covered in over 100 very itchy bed bug bites. Staff told me I was wrong and the bites were from mozzies. Why then the insecticide powder everywhere and even a dead bed bug in my sheets? We did something Ive never done before and changed to another place as fast as we could. Annies Place is awful dont go there. Save a cell and bedbugs for if you go to jail. Until then, when visiting Adelaide, spend a little more and go somewhere really nice.
