Throsby Park Historic Site

I just can't believe that I have driven past this historic site for over thirty years and not known the significance of the family that lived at Throsby Park. Just recently I read Lorna Howlett's book on The Throsbys of Throsby Park and had a desire to see this beautiful preserved property where the Throsby family lived. Why didn't we learn about Charles Throsby and the exploration that was carried out by this outstanding family in Australian history in our schools? Today along with my family that included my grand-daughter we had an interesting trip back into the lives of the family that lived in this homestead. I think the Throsby family were one of the outstanding pioneer families that definitely had a major role in the opening up of these areas we drive today in modern vehicles with little thought to the lives that carved the way. What a blockbuster movie this story of a family would make!!!!! (Date of experience: Apr, 2010 )
