The Village Pub Barnsley

We stayed here as it came highly recommended. The room was 150 per night and for that we got a space about 8 feet square with a miniscule bathroom. The tea/coffee facilities were meagre and the kettle was attached to the wall so we had to ferry water to and from the bathroom to fill it. Add to that the lead was so short we couldn't tilt the kettle to actually get all the water out! There was no mirror in the room so my partner found it impossible to apply make up or brush her hair. The bathroom sink was blocked so we had to brush our teeth in the shower. For that kind of money we expected some degree of quality, but at ANY price I'd have expected more than what we got. Easily the poorest value I have encountered at a hotel, particularly when it was described as 'a haven for discerning visitors'. Very poor indeed.
