Bank Holiday Chaos

Made a booking for the Easter bank holiday 2009 in early January, for a hard standing, superior pitch. Arrived on the Easter Friday to be told that my booking had been cancelled due to over capacity, and that the only alternative was to stay in the overflow field without facilities. The overflow field was only accessible with the aid of a tractor due to the level of mud and uneven ground. Added to which half the toilets were out of order. The location of the site would have been great for exploring the Breacons, and the views from the site were beautiful, its a shame they didnt control their booking system and keep their toilets in working order.

I'm a member of staff at Gilestone Caravan Park. As Mr Fielding quite rightly put it we had half our loos out of action-which is why i rang him 24hours in advance of his turning up (as soon as we knew we had a problem). we were unable to sort out our water problem until the following tuesday, which is why at the last minute i had to cancel him-you are only allowed so many caravans per working loo and we didnt want to exceed those numbers, or there would be a possibility of us going to court. it was a horrible situation to be in- having to cancel peoples holidays at such short notice but it was the only thing we could do. we did our utmost to try and sort something out for mr fielding, but he was very rude to us and soon drove off. apologies once again to everyone who was affected- it was one of those things that cant be helped. charlie thomas
