Seahorse Inn Boutique Hotel

I got married at the seahorse Inn in the early 90's when June Farrell ran the place. Great hotel back then, a little run down but excellent stay. Friends and family booked out the hotel and lots of local accommodation (twofold bay caravan park took quite a few in their excellent cabins). We all had an excellent time. June was a great host and put a lot of herself into the place. Wonder what happened to her? The place used to have a small museum and its own ghost story. Sadly the hotel has been remodelled. Whilst it now caters for larger conventions it's also lost a lot of the old charm it had. The magnificent sunken gardens have been filled in, the museum has been replaced by a nice spiral staircase, the bar has been modernised. The building has been extended to accommodate the function room and the restaurant relocated. Sadly they didn't make use of the excellent ocean views when they moved the restaurant nor did they retain the beautiful sunken gardens which convinced us to get married there in the first place. I've stayed there again a few times since the refurbishment. Well worth staying and the prices are reasonable. There is lots of history about the place, the old chapel on top of the hill, a trip to the old lighthouse or fishing from the Navy wharf is recommended. I liked the old charm it used to have a lot more than the modernised place it is now. There is also a small caravan/camping ground located in the grounds. But the facilities there are very basic, one amenity block, no kiosk or store. Hopefully the caravan/camping facilities are due for as good a refurbishment as the seahorse inn received?
