My first experience entering Brampton Island was surprisingly good. The welcome drinks are a nice touch and the tour around the facilities was good but very necessary as the resort is spread out and easy to be lost.
The second experience was seeing extremely outdated furniture in all the facilities especially the restaurant. If you can enjoy the outdoor setting at your local milk bar, then you will be thrilled at the dcor at Brampton Island.
The third experience came when we entered our Island View room that looked like it was decorated in the early 1980s. To our surprise we were greeted in our room by a golf ball sized Christmas bug, flying through and then followed by a wake up call from another Christmas bug the next day. To my amazement, the Executive Assistant Manager accused me of leaving the door open. This was very disappointing and his bottle of champagne and cheese platter did not get the desire affect with me since it was given 4 days after my compliant to him. Im not one to fret about bugs in a room. Its a tropical island, I get it. However, you dont pay such high prices for accommodation to have golf ball sized bugs flying through your room. Nor would you anticipate that these big bugs would somehow find there way into the room. However, luckily Voyages do anticipate this as they left us three quarters empty can of Raid to kill bugs.
All in all, after reading the other reviews of Brampton Island, I must say that the restaurant food has improved. I enjoyed the a la carte dishes but disliked the dinner buffet. The service was good but not excellent. It took 15 mins to get some water but yet 5 mins to get a cocktail (why they couldnt bring both at the same time is beyond me).
There is an immense amount of work that needs to be done at Brampton Island and it is clearly seen in the painting not completed on the outside of the main restaurant and yet again the dcor in each of the facilities is sub par.
