I went to take photos of Melbourne's skyline at night. I found there was too much reflection on the windows from internal lighting to make it a pleasurable experience.
If you are going at night, I recommend allowing yourself at least 2 hours, especially if you intend to go on The Edge. If you are going to take photos, make sure you have a very long lens. You are not permitted to take your camera into the Edge, which was a huge disappointment for me - apparently there is a sign at the desk where you purchase your ticket for The Edge advising that you can't take certain things into it, but I didn't see it and the staff member didn't tell me.
The staff downstairs were friendly but the staff member in charge of The Edge on the night I went was very "officious" and rushed through everything.
At a cost of $16.50 for the Skydeck and an additional $12.00 for The Edge, I felt it was poor value for money. I doubt very much if I will go again and I won't recommend to anyone. (Date of experience: Mar, 2010 )
