Beautiful site, mad facilities

It is really beautiful here and I would recommend it because of that. If you like bird watching you'll be happy here too as the bird life is varied and plentiful (heaps of lovely parrots, kookaburras and birds I don't know the name of!). You can also have a campfire here which is important to us. Unfortunately though the facilities are mad! Such a great spot but the owners are really letting themselves down when it comes to the amenities and the general layout of the site. First of all there's the problem of working out which amentities you can actually get into! Weirdly there are two campsites with separate management practically on top of each other and we were locked out of the wash block nearest our tent because it belonged to the other site, very odd! We finally found the amenties meant for us (not sign posted, or pointed out to us on a map) and dually fed our tokens in to use the showers - no free showering here, which is dead stingy but not the end of the world - but what they don't tell you is the lights will also switch off in the middle of your shower and you'll be soaped up in the pitch black! I'm all for being green and energy saving but this is crazy! Especially as you can't turn the showers off until the six minutes you've paid for (think it's six minutes for $2) is finished. So if you put a 2nd token in cause you weren't quite done then there's no switching the shower off till six minutes are up even if you're done in half the time. That's water wasting not saving in my book! Plus you expect to have a decent shower when you pay for it but the temperture is either too hot or freezing and the water pressure is rubbish. Get undressed before you put your token in too because the shower starts straight away. Our site was also slopey. Plus they could do with a decent camp shop there and take your own firewood if you can because their's is a bit over priced - $12 for a milk crate. Failing that buy your wood from the Tamborine Mountain Camp Shop, the other site there, it sells firewood for $12 dollars too but you get more of it for your money. Aside from cheaper wood though Tamborine Mountain Campsite seems a bit mad too, so I wouldn't recommend it over Thunderbird Park, they're probably pretty equal. Like I've said, however, despite all that I'd go back because it is really pretty. Also the service was polite and friendly although they could fill you in more about amenities etc when you turn up.
