Eagle Hawk Holiday Park

We stayed here recently and booked a 2 bedroom villa for 3 nights. Our first night was most unpleasant as the reception had mistakenly assigned us a 1 bedroom villa and a heater that we could not get to work. For the remaining 2 nights we were moved to a 2 bedroom villa. Both villas were very poorly equipped with very little cooking utensils i.e. no spatula. The 2 bedroom villa accommodates 6 people but there was not 6 of anything; glasses, plates, bowls and cutlery. Two dessert spoons shared amongst 4 was most inconvenient!. We had chosen the accommodation because it was self contained but this was a joke as the lack of cooking utensils forced us to dine out. Our friends in an adjacent villa had an equally poorly equipped villa. Our villa was quite shabby with water damage in the bathroom and mould not properly removed in plugholes - eek! The venetian blinds were twisted and bent which did not provide privacy or sunblock. The most annoying part of our stay was that it was quite evident that Eaglehawk was booked out and we had been deliberately shuffled to a 1 bedroom villa for the first night. This proved to be quite awkward as we had 4 guests but 1 adult and 1 child from 2 families each sharing the 1 bedroom villa. The reception staff were very rude and never attempted or contemplated an apology. They even tried to make it appear that it was my mistake (until I produced my booking documentation). At $174 per night, I found it very expensive for what it was and next time would happily pay slightly more to be better located and accommodated closer to downtown Canberra. Never again based on my experience.
