Nautilus Aviation

Our Orpheus Island holiday was a trip of a lifetime. And our holiday started even before we arrived to our destination. We were warmly greeted by Nautilus Aviation's chief pilot, Hylton Ward at the Townsville Airport. Within minutes, we were boarding our private helicopter flight - destination paradise! We left Townsville and ventured across the islands and fringing reef below. For us, it was whale season and we were thrilled to catch a sighting of a group of humpback whales. No camera can capture the thrill of viewing this from above. Hylton takes us in again for a second look. Simply stunning! For the next 30 minutes, we get a running commentary of the local area, its landmarks and history. It truely took my breath away. I didn't want the flight to end - just yet! Alas, we did reach our destination and were pampered for 5 days on the exclusive Orpheus Island (another must). We didn't want to leave there either but atleast the 30 minute flight home made it a little easier to say goodbye.
