Abelle Cottage

Jillian and Bob who run this cottage and the other Abelle rentals are doing a wonderful job. The inside of the cottage is well maintained with modern bathroom and kitchen and stylish yet comfortable furniture and bedding. It is perfect for our family of 4 or for a single traveller as well as I was in the beginning of our stay. The big yard and garden in the back is useful for hanging clothes to dry, but is also a wonderful place to relax and for the kids to play. I luckily came when the fig tree was bearing fruit as well and could go and pick fresh figs for breakfast. There is a nice table, parasol with chairs for the garden. This Mary Street location couldn't be better- you don't need to use your car if you don't want to as only a few minutes down an adjacent road (Cambell), you hit beautiful, expansive Queens park. Next to the top of the park where the windmills are is the Cobb Museum which is lots of fun to learn about the history of Toowwomba. If you walk through the park and you will be in the small city center of Toowoomba in about 10-15 minutes. It is a charming little town center with movie theatres, shopping malls, bookstores and lots of great little cafes, restaurants and pubs to enjoy. Nearer to the cottage, 5 minutes up Mary street to a BP gas station with a liquor store, small shop and fabulous coffee and baked goods in a cafe. On the opposite side of the intersection is a gourmet Italian deli with his own grown olive oil, ready cooked deli items, cheeses and more. Next door is a very friendly hair salon (Toowoomba Hair designers) and around the corner you can have a wonderful massage, facial or other spa treatment (Beauty Boutique). Activities around the cottage: Queens Park has "Shakespeare in the Park" performances, there is a skate park at the bottom of the park for the youngsters and the streets and parks around the cottage are ideal for walks, jogs and bicycle rides. Head up Campbell street to the top of the hill (10 mintues walk) where you can see a great lookout of the area over to Flat-top mountain.
