Middleton Hotel

During my last trip through Western Queensland I dropped into the Middleton Hotel. It was early morning and the bar wasn't open so I opted for coffee. "How much is that?" I asked. "A Gold Coin donation to the Flying Doctor." Now that impressed me; so much so that I thought I might spend the day exploring the nearby Cawnpore Hills which are truly spectacular, and then spend the night at the Hotel when the bar would be open. "Do you have rooms?" "Sorry, we're booked out - we're full of guys prospecting for uranium." Disappointed, I got into my Land Rover and pushed on. I'll go back - and when I do I'll phone ahead and make a booking.
