After arriving for our 3pm departure (which was supposed to be 2pm) and after signing contracts at the main office, we headed down to the river to board the boat, only to be told it had not been cleaned yet and would be another hour. No worries. After an hour we had to ask what was happening. We were not once kept in the loop of what was happening. Turns out, the water pump had broken and they had to drive 4.5 hours to Melbourne to get the part! Therefore leaving us stranded. We were eventually allowed on to the boat around 8pm, but only because we had a sick child with us. The part had still not arrived back from Melbourne and did not do so until after 9.30pm, at which point we were told it would not be fitted til the morning. Night one was spent moored at the caravan park. The part was fitted around 9am the next day, some 19 hours after we were supposed to leave. We were not done yet though. We had to get a driving lesson. No problem with that, but then we had to go and get the waste tanks emptied, which was supposed to have already been done. Another hour wasted! The rest of the trip was very pleasant, and while I would most definitely recommend a house boat trip to anyone, I am certainly not recommending Magic Murray Houseboats. What I have written here is only a brief summation. Never again! Very poor way to run a business that could be so much better. (Date of experience: Jan, 2010 )
