My family of 2 adults and 2 kids stayed at the Horizons over a period of 10 days in the peak period. I was very disappointed with the service, facilities and room quality at the resort, as I expected much more for it being a golf resort. We booked through the hotel, not through owners or travel agencies, and the apartment has never been renovated. The carpet used to be white, but now full of stains. The pool is old and the water is filtered through pipes, not water jets. The communal spa doesn't heat up properly, the pool shed is open, the laundry doesn't have washing powder and the cleaners only make the beds - they don't even wash 2 cups left in the sink.
However, the staff were friendly and helped us out with our complaints. They jumped on them immediately and steam cleaned the room - but that was about all. The buffet breakfast was delicious and filling, with the breakfast restaurant facing the golf course and lakes.
The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and the resort has a heck of potential. The location is quite central to the entire area, however, there is no chance that you could easily walk to a beach. You must have a hire car handy! The resort needs sprucing up and a desperate renovation, and the staff need to be encouraged a little more. Overall, I wouldn't stay at the Horizons again, even though I paid $180 pn (inc buffet breakfast) over NYE period. I would return to the resort if they paid attention to their failings and dramatically renovate it. Honestly, it is only worth $120 per night plus breakfast. Anything else is too much.
