We have stayed at the Springvale Homestead Tourist Park twice now and I wouldn't even consider staying anywhere else in Katherine. It's always service with a smile, and if you like, a good long chat, but better than that, it's just a beautiful park.
It's located on the banks of the river and features its own little lagoon, which has such a diversity of creatures living in, on and around it that the local schools bring groups of children down to learn about the different species.
Springvale Homestead itself is well worth a look, a lovely, historical building that is well set up and can provide Devonshire teas.
You can book at the caravan park for night-time croc-spotting tours, or just sit back and enjoy the night sky and the company of the little wallabies that graze the grounds, often with their adorable joeys in tow.
The facilities are clean and the showers are hot with good pressure.
The park is located a little way out of town, but it is only a short drive in, and you escape all the noise and bustle that comes with a regional centre.
We always leave the park relaxed and feeling as though we've had the next best thing to a bush camp.
