Johns Landing Camping Ground

Having read previous comments re these grounds the writer was somewhat apprehensive about the adventure about to be emarbarked upon. Yes, the drive into the place is somewhat disturbing and yes, it is agreed can be compared to other well known horror sites in Australia. But it is as the saying goes, ÿou get what you pay for". At $5, per head per night one cannot expect a 3 star standard.
Go prepared for very basic ammenities. Showers were very basic but on a positive note, the water was always Hot. Toilet amenities could definitely be improved and in fact where young children are concerned it is strongly recommended that you take a portaloo and avoid using the public amenities where possible.
Sites are reasonably good and spacious. The Boat ramp, treated with care, does the job. The permanent residents were obliging, approachable, and friendly. The surrounds were relaxing and the mozzies were there in droves ever eager (all times day and night) to make your acquaintance, so take plenty of Rid, mosiquto coils, and citronella.
General surrounds were clean and management did make daily rubbish. removal, hence there was no problem in regards to flies, nor any obnoxious smells.
It is a good experience for going back in time, before WHS and all of those other policies that remove ones ability to have to think and take responsibility for ones own safety and personal care.
Johns Landing is considered as a budget type camping holiday for short term stays. Dont expect any luxuries but it is what you make it yourself. Our family of 4 adults and 3 children had fun, relaxing, simple break away from the usual hastles of every day modern life, and survived the stay, regardless of first impressions.
