A new Shangri-La Hotel has opened on beautiful Hainan Island, known as China's Hawaii. Set amid sprawling tropical gardens, the Shangri-La Hotel Haikou is offering special opening packages through to 31 March 2013.

Restaurants range from Sirena, an Italian seafood restaurant, to the lively Café Kool with its chef-manned cooking stations featuring an array of international cuisine. The hotel’s Shang Palace serves authentic Cantonese cuisine and Hainan specialities.

One of the hotel's stand-out venues is the Hall of Splendour, which is set in the hotel’s 30,000-square-metre tropical garden and features dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sea.
Hainan Island has been tapped to become a leading international tourism resort destination, and the provincial capital of Haikou is its tourism and cultural centre and transportation hub, making it ideal for leisure and business travellers.
