If you're wondering where to avoid on your next overseas trip, take a look at the results of the latest TripAdvisor Cities Survey - revealing the rudest locals, dirtiest streets and worst shopping.

Tokyo was the most highly decorated city. The Japanese capital was ranked number one for taxi services, friendliest taxi drivers, best public transportation, cleanest streets, and safety.

Singapore also received a number of gongs, including second place best taxi services, second place cleanest streets, and third place for the friendliest taxi drivers.

New York City was ranked the top city for shopping, although travellers felt the city streets could use a bit of a sweep - scoring it 28 out of 40 for cleanliness

Moscow took a bit of a beating, coming in as having the least friendly locals, the least friendly taxi drivers and worst shopping.

No New Zealand cities were featured on the list.

The results were compiled based on more than 75,000 responses to a survey sent to those who have recently written TripAdvisor reviews on the featured cities.
