Falls Creek is an alpine playground with great skiing as well as a great selection of other snowplay activities

Falls Creek, situated in North-East Victoria, is the state’s largest Alpine resort, and is renowned for its fantastic downhill and cross-country skiing. A family friendly resort, Falls Creek also features a wide variety of snowplay activities for the whole family to enjoy this winter. For avid skiing enthusiasts, Falls Creek now has the Super Pass season pass which gives you access to Falls Creek as well as Mt Hotham and Perisher.
Falls Creek has 19 lifts which service 90 runs. The terrain mix is roughly 17% beginners, 60% intermediate, and 23% advanced and Falls Creek boasts some of the country’s steepest terrain for experienced skiers. For beginners, the Snowsports School has a range of programmes for children and adults which will get you out on the slopes having fun in no time. Falls Creek has the longest beginner run in Australia, the Wombats Ramble. Wide open runs, and ample terrain at Falls Creek ensure uncrowded skiing conditions and short lift wait times. Falls Creek also features Terrain Parks for all, with four different parks to choose from, designed with progression in mind. Cross-country skiing is also popular here, with over 65kms of groomed cross-country trails. For non-skiers too, there is a huge range of activities at Falls Creek. The kids will love the snowman making competitions, the Snow Tubing Park, Bungy Trampoline, Snocce (bocce on the snow), as well as Pete the Snowdragons shows!
Falls Creek village is snowbound, sitting above the snow line, giving visitors a true alpine experience. The picturesque village has great facilities including around 30 restaurants, 7 night clubs, good shopping, cinema and ski hire outlets. Visitors to Falls Creek can also enjoy a relaxing massage or treatment at one of the resorts Day Spas, after a long hard day on the slopes. The nearest town to Falls Creek is Mount Beauty, approximately 30km away, where visitors can enjoy a range of off-mountain accommodation. On-mountain accommodation in Falls Creek village caters for 4,500 visitors, with a range of choice including ski lodges, hotels and apartments.
A natural playground, Mt Buller has an amazing variety of skiing, including rugged ridges, cliff drops and tree runs to delight experienced skiers. Groomed runs vary from the easy and gentle to the steep and fast, with a terrain mix of around 20% suitable for beginners, 45% for intermediate skiers, and 35% for advanced skiers. With over 300 hectares of skiable terrain and more than 80km of marked trails, there is plenty of skiing to be enjoyed at Mt Buller. For beginners, the Mt Buller Ski and Snowboard School has a number of programs to get you out on the slopes confidently skiing or boarding. For the more adventurous, there are three dedicated terrain parks complete with jumps and rails, as well as an earth formed half-pipe. The mountain also features 9km of cross country trails which connect Mt Buller with Mt Stirling. With 22 lifts, including the high-speed 6-seater Holden Chairlift, Mt Buller can accommodate around 40,000 skiers per hour. Late night skiing takes place on Bourke St run from 7pm-10pm every Weds and Sat throughout peak season. Mt Buller has extensive snow-making facilities which cover more than 75 hectares and 18km of resort trails.
There are also a range of non-skiing on-snow activities available at Mt Buller. Snow-shoeing is a popular way to get out and enjoy the mountain scenery (and great exercise)! Snowshoe hire is available at most mountain rental outlets, and guided tours are also available. For an activity for the whole family, snowtubing is available for free at Mt Buller (with a valid sight-seeing pass). Sit or lie in a large inflated rubber ring and whiz down the Snowtubing Park – great fun for all. Tobogganing is also a big hit with the kids, and Mt Buller has two designated toboggan areas (toboggans can be hired on site).
The charming Alpine-style village of Mt Buller is situated high in the snowfields amongst snow gums. With a huge range of accommodation including lodges, apartments, hotels and more – most ski-in, ski-out, and the largest number of on-mountain beds in Victoria (around 7,000), Mt Buller can cater for a huge influx of visitors on a range of budgets. Accommodation options in the village include ski lodges, apartments and hotels. Mt Buller village has an abundance of off the slopes activities for visitors including Australia’s highest cinema screening the latest movies, two gymnasiums and a huge indoor sports complex.
