A renowned and popular ski resort, Mount Hotham incorporates Hotham Ski Resort and Mount Hotham Village. Mt Hotham is located high in the Victorian Alps, amongst snowgums and breathtaking mountain ridges. The village of Mt Hotham sits above the snowline, so visitors to the resort can enjoy a true alpine holiday experience. Just 4.5 hours drive from Melbourne, Hotham Alpine Resort is easily accessible by road and also by air - Mt Hotham airport is located just 20km from the resort, and serviced by Qantaslink from Sydney.
Whether you're a seasoned expert or a complete novice, you will love the skiing on offer at Mt Hotham. With a terrain mix of 20% beginner, 40% intermediate, and 40% experienced , all standards are catered for. A great resort to keep the more advanced skier occupied with lots of leg burning runs, Hotham is home to one of Australia’s steepest and most difficult runs, the Mary Slide among other black diamond thrill runs. Hotham has 13 lifts (including Dinner Plain) 245 hectares of skiable area including around 80 downhill runs.
Higher natural snowfalls than any other ski resort in Victoria, holds the record for the highest annual snowfall in Victoria over the past decade. For beginners, there’s the Big D designated learning area where the Milo Kids Clubs operates through the Kids Snowzone program. For little non-skiers there is also a daycare, so mum and dad can hit the slopes together. For non skiers, there is a multitude of snow-play options at Hotham (and neighbouring Dinner Plain) for all to enjoy, including snow-shoeing, dog sled tours, kids snowmobiling, grooming tours, and tobogganing.
The village of Mt Hotham is perched high on the Hotham summit and offers majestic views across to Mt Feathertop. The village itself sits at an altitude of 1750 metres, making it the second highest ski resort village in Australia after Charlotte Pass. Hotham has extensive ski-in, ski-out accommodation options, with around 7000 on-mountain beds available including ski lodges right through to luxury villa style accommodation. Off-mountain accommodation can be found at Dinner Plain resort (10kms away), or the nearby towns of Bright, Mt Beauty, Porepunkah and Harrietville.
Hotham has more than 20 bars and restaurants, and is well-known for its great nightlife. Popular après-ski stops include Zirkys Bar, Swinders Bar, and The General. For that little bit of extra indulgence after a hard days skiing, Mt Hotham is home to a deluxe day spa, the White Spa located in Hotham Central, and across at Dinner Plain there is also the Onsen Retreat and Spa.
