The nerve-wracking moment a pilot skillfully landed a passenger jet without any nose gear has been caught on film and distributed around the world.

An IranAir Boeing 727 was flying from Moscow to the Iranian capital Tehran on October 18 when the flight crew discovered the nose landing gear had not extended properly and initially aborted the approach.

After unsuccessful attempts at "troubleshooting" the crew diverted to a different Tehran airport, where a low fly-by confirmed the nose gear was still tucked away.

The pilots then landed the plane on the runway, skillfully managing to keep the nose off the tarmac until the last few moments when the aircraft came to a standstill.

None of the 94 passengers and 19 crew on board were injured.

The captain, who is reported to be Hooshang Shahbazi, has been branded a hero from many viewers who have seen the clip on YouTube since it was uploaded two days ago.
