Bulls to the sea - Bous a la Mar, 6th to 15th July

Everyone’s heard of the famous Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, but what about the ‘Bous a la Mar’ or Bulls to the Sea? Every year in the fishing harbour of Denia in Spain revellers take part in a bull run of their own. In this weeklong festival young men enter a square bull ring and tease the bulls towards the one open side of the arena. From here they then run down the main street eventually being chased into the Mediterranean Sea. Not for the faint hearted the participants often end up in the water with an angry bull close on their heels.
