Great Southern Rail will usher in a new era tomorrow with the introduction of all-inclusive fares on its flagship train journeys, The Ghan and Indian Pacific.
For the first time ever, all on-board meals, beverages and off-train excursions will be included in the standard fare for both Platinum and Gold Service guests.
The shift to all-inclusive travel leads a raft of 2013 enhancements showcasing the flexibility, adventure and splendour of two of the world’s most epic rail journeys.
For Platinum Service guests, the journey now starts at the doorstep with the introduction of chauffeur services offering complimentary transfers to and from the terminal.
A new personalised check-in service for both Platinum and Gold Service guests features an increase in permissible check-in luggage, as well as the opportunity at some terminals to unwind in the comfort of the Outback Explorer Lounge up to 90 minutes before the train embarks at selected stations.
High-quality wines, beers, base spirits and non-alcoholic beverages are now part and parcel of the journey, giving guests the freedom to socialise with friends or lose themselves in the breathtaking Australian scenery with a glass in hand.
A fresh approach to dining in the elegantly-appointed Queen Adelaide Restaurant delivers a myriad opportunities to linger over lunch or enjoy an intimate evening thanks to modern flexible dining options. Both The Ghan and Indian Pacific also boast new season menus inspired by the finest Australian produce sourced along the route.
The selection of off-train excursions, included in the fare, have been tailored exclusively for The Ghan and Indian Pacific, ensuring that travellers who choose to holiday by rail get richer access to the most remote, adventurous, historic and captivating corners of Australia.
Travelling between Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin, The Ghan spans 2,979km of breathtaking Outback scenery over two nights and three days. The Indian Pacific connects Sydney, Adelaide and Perth in a 4,348km transcontinental stretch. For booking enquiries, please Great Southern Rail on 13 21 47, visit www.greatsouthernrail.com.au or contact your local travel agent.
