Discount airline Jetstar have begun handing out Multilingual Welcome Maps to international travelers arriving on their flights to Australia. Designed to promote local businesses and tourism in major cities, the maps are available in 12 languages and target inbound passengers.
The new maps are destination based around each Australian major capital city: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Cairns, Darwin, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth.
Gold Coast and Sydney Welcome Maps have begun distribution with Melbourne to come next month, and the other major capital cities to follow.
Multilingual Welcome Maps Director Matthew Simons said he hoped the maps would assist to support local businesses and drive tourism.
“We are sure these maps will prove to be a valuable tool for arriving tourists. The maps will showcase the best of each major Australian destination and will be available to tourists in their own language,” Simons said.
“In turn we expect to see a real benefit for the involved local businesses and tourism in each area,” he said.
Jetstar Chief Commercial Officer, David Koczkar, said the maps contributed to a hassle free experience for travellers.“As a leisure airline we focus on making people’s trip as easy as possible, and these maps are designed to give travellers useful information,” Koczkar said.
Jetstar Welcome Maps proudly support Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) by promoting the ‘Be safe and always swim between the red and yellow flags’ message in all 12 languages.
